Mobile Betting: Andy Murray, Australian Open
Almost like it’s been in hibernation, giving other sports the limelight over much of the winter, tennis is returning with a bang in the shape of the Australian Open in Melbourne.
With Scotland’s Andy Murray having exorcised his demons when finally winning a Grand Slam title at the US Open, he is fancied by gambling4mobile’s online sports betting partners to have much more of an impact in big events now that the proverbial monkey (and a legion of journalists) is off his back.
Murray will start the year’s first Grand Slam tournament with an opening round clash against Dutch world No 54 Robin Haase. Betting on individual tennis matches during the early stages of a tournament is often best done in-running if we want to take an interest in the favourite (hence the beauty of mobile gambling being essentially available whenever and wherever we want). For example Murray is typically as ridiculously short as 1/50 at the time of writing (with Haase around 12/1), despite the fact that in the two meetings they have had thus far the Dutchman has managed to take a scalp from the second seed. Of course there are other ways to have a gamble, with Paddy Power offering odds on the final score – a 3-0 win for the Scot is 1/5, but betting on him dropping a set in the heat (or through rustiness or nerves and so on) before wrapping up the match 3-1 offers a comparatively juicy 9/2.
With Juan Martin del Potro possibly waiting in the wings at the quarter-final stage, and 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer a potential mountain to overcome on the way to finally meeting Novak Djokovic (where Serbia’s hero would be gunning for his fourth Australian Open title), Murray’s tournament could well prove a difficult one...
