Mobile Gambling: Be creative - you might live longer
We all know the old adage that a healthy body helps maintain a healthy mind. Which isn’t to say, alas, that we necessarily take such advice seriously and put our bodies through regular exercise in order to stay sharper mentally. And to make matters worse, conventional scientific wisdom has held that, regardless of the effort we put in (and, of course, we should), the ability of our brain to perform this or that task will anyway deteriorate over time.
But there’s some potentially good news for mobile betting fans. Recent research suggests that in certain parts of the brain the growth of fatty insulation on neurons (a process called myelination, which keeps our brain circuits operating smoothly) can in fact continue even into our 60s. The catch is that this isn’t carried out automatically, but mobile gambling and betting enthusiasts are lucky in this regard because they often find themselves, for example, investigating the pros and cons of a bet, studying form and odds and so on, or weighing up the implications of a course of action at an online poker table. They use their brains actively and creatively.
All of these - and other aspects - of mobile gambling serve to help our brains carry out much needed repair work in vital areas. As Dr Geirge Bartzokis, a neurologist and psychology professor from UCLA in the US points out: ‘We’re like a jumbo jet that’s always getting repairs and new parts...When you use your brain a lot as opposed to sitting around looking at the wall, you’re repairing things centrally.’
In other words, taking an interest in mobile betting not only introduces the possibility of adding to our bank balance but (and here’s the important part which mobile gamblers across the nation will now be able to use to justify their hobby…) the analysis we tend to involve ourselves in and, crucially, the creativity these thought processes elicit, mean we’re contributing to our health.
Moreover, assuming we also derive pleasure (which is, after all, the point) from mobile gambling, then the fact it makes us happy is also very good news, as it’s accepted nowadays that those with happy, busy, active minds tend to enjoy healthier and indeed longer lives than bored, unhappy people.
