Upwardly Mobile Gambling
Gone are the days when only yuppies carried around mobile phones. Now everyone and his dog appreciates the ever-increasing uses of mobile technology, especially gambling fans. Whether sports betting, casinos, poker or bingo is your thing, then if you haven't started to enjoy these games via mobile gambling, you really are missing out.
Indeed now is a great time to join in the mobile gambling party, with gambling-friendly developments that allow sports fans to bet 'in-running' on their mobiles while out shopping, for instance, advancing at such a rate that mobile betting and even the likes of mobile slots and bingo are today just as easy and convenient as traditional gambling.
Perhaps more so, in fact as, crucially, mobile betting services and other mobile gambling facilities offer fun on the move, wherever we like.
As operators step up their endeavours to make the gambling-on-the-go experience such an attractive one for both experienced gamblers and sports betting fans and those mobile users already converted by similar technology to what mobile gambling can offer, it follows that this sector of the gambling industry is set to go from strength to strength. As the number and scale of gambling services increase and improve, so the global mobile gambling family expands.
Thus it comes as no surprise that, with each new generation of mobile technology being so quickly replaced by the next, the m-commerce environment is so perfectly suited to mobile gambling that this sector of the interactive gambling market is expected to account for a considerable chunk of the industry over the next couple of years.
Global Betting and Gaming Consultants (GBGC) forecast around $4.8 billion in gross revenues for mobile gambling by 2013, accounting for 11 per cent of the e-gaming market. Another recent report, from H2 Gambling Capital, predicts the market share by 2013 will be even higher, at 12.9 per cent!
Not wanting to be left out of the mobile gambling explosion, in August the mighty Google agreed to pay $12.5 billion for Motorola Mobility, Motorola’s mobile handset business.
