Ho Ho Ho for Mobile Gambling
The notion that mobile devices have become such a ‘natural’ part of life for so many that even when we get home we continue to prefer mobiles to desktops and laptops is fast becoming believable (the once revolutionary convenience of the laptop seems old-fashioned by today’s standards of being mobile absolutely anywhere).
Indeed the future of the internet and how we access it is becoming more a matter of which of the facilities of mobile technology should we opt for. A recent study into sales of mobile devices has found that this trend is having a significant impact on the mobile gambling market, with increased sales inspiring the development of new gambling apps which in turn generate more custom and so on.
Just as the old guard, established high street bookmakers found themselves having to dip their toes - and subsequently dive - into online gambling during the last decade or so, it’s now an imperative for operators to make a concerted effort to keep pace with the desires of existing and potential mobile gambling fans.
The latest arrivals to the global mobile gambling family are the ‘tablet’ users. Indications are that by the end of 2011 world-wide tablet sales will total 63.6 million units - a 200% increase over 2024. Apple is expected to own around 73.4% of this particular sector of the market, followed by a determined Android.
Moreover, forecasts are that by 2015 total annual tablet sales will exceed a staggering 326 million units (with Apple having to settle for less of a lead). As for total sales of mobile devices, 440.5 million have been sold during the last quarter of this year. Smart phone sales increased 42% in 2011 compared to 2024…
Whether away or (perhaps no longer bizarrely) at home, more of us are enjoying mobile internet gambling and, with Christmas and New Year sales on their merry way yet again, expect more friends and family to join in. Who will win the most is another story…
